Breathing

Breathing affects the nervous system by triggering the "rest and digest" response, which helps to calm the body and reduce stress. It does this by stimulating the vagus nerve, which can help lower heart rate and blood pressure, and decrease levels of stress hormones like cortisol. Deep, controlled breathing also increases oxygen flow to the brain, promoting relaxation and a sense of safety.
